The gardens are amazing again this Spring

The crocuses, tulips, daffodils, lilacs, hepatica and trillium have all finished their blooming. It’s on to the blossoms for berries, rhododendron, hydrangea and poppies now.

They aren't pretty but they are wonderful

Cutting into crisp apples grown in your own yard is unbelievably rewarding. I’m working on getting enough juice for at least one or two more batches of jelly.

Preliminary work complete... Gardens causing distraction.

Well, I really did hope to get the "note takers" review done sooner than this but, lovely Summer weather stole the weekend from the computing realm and plunked me in the gardens. It was a weekend of unraveling vines and pulling weeds in the hopes of regaining some control over the gardens.

Hopefully I'll have enough energy through the evenings this week to finish up the work in both gardens and software comparisons.

A 210 Year Old Garden?

A couple of things have been on my mind as we occupy the space that has had four owners in 210 years. First, what did the inside of this place actually look like way back in 1798? And then, what, if anything did they grow around here? Possibly to feed the folks who braved the travels across Pennsylvania from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh.
